iOS Setup - React Native

Follow below steps if you are setting up for iOS

Step 1: IMPORTANT: Make sure you are using CocoaPods 1.10 or higher.

To update CocoaPods you simply install the gem again

Update cocoapods

$[sudo] gem install cocoapods

Step 2: Add the VideoSDKRTC pod and change your platform version

Add the VideoSDKRTC pod from the podspec inside the package, and set the platform to iOS 18.0 or later.

ios/Podfile

  pod 'VideoSDKRTC', :podspec => '../node_modules/@videosdk.live/react-native-sdk/ios/VideoSDKRTC.podspec'

• Add the VideoSDKRTC line inside your app's target block. Without it, CocoaPods picks an older VideoSDKRTC from the public CocoaPods repository, which does not work with v2.0.0.
• Set the iOS Deployment Target of your app target to 18.0 in Xcode as well.
• The SDK's own pod, VideoSDKReactNative, is linked automatically.

Step 3: Install pods

After updating the Podfile, you have to install pods.

Install pods

cd ios && pod install

To run in the iOS Simulator, use a Mac with Apple silicon. You do not need to edit EXCLUDED_ARCHS.

Step 4: Declare permissions in Info.plist :

Add following lines to info.plist (project folder/ios/projectname/info.plist):

<string>Microphone permission description</string>

To share the screen on iOS, your app also needs a Broadcast Upload Extension. Follow the iOS screen share guide.
